Ken Moeller, architect of record and landscape architect, planned and designed this family aquatics center for the City of Vista. It is designed so that the seasonal utilization of the water park amenities support the competitive swimming pool amenities year round. The complex includes a 25 yard by 35 meter competition / recreation pool, continuous river, “flow rider” © of Wave Loch a body boarding experience, children’s activity pool and four water slides. The project also includes a 7,500 s.f. bathhouse with an administration and concession area.
This 3 acre park is municipally owned and operated. It has approximately 85,000 water park patrons during the summer season with another 17,000 patrons during the competitive swimming season for water polo, swimming lessons, competitions and exercise classes. The Flow Rider is the central attraction and affords opportunities for body boarding competitions. In 1996 the operation of the park provided year round aquatic programs to the community and over $100,000 in revenue. The facility also affords an SCS Play Structure for smaller children.
